Digital Desk: India witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases, with 628 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry's latest data released on Monday. The active caseload has risen to 4,054. With one new fatality recorded in Kerala, the total death toll stands at 5,33,334 (5.33 lakh).

The nation's COVID-19 tally now stands at 4,50,09,248 (4.50 crore). Encouragingly, recoveries have climbed to 4,44,71,860 (4.44 crore), driving the national recovery rate to an impressive 98.81%.

Maintaining a case fatality rate of 1.19%, India has administered a staggering 220.67 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses, according to the health ministry's website.

As the country grapples with this fluctuating scenario, health authorities continue to emphasize vaccination and adherence to safety protocols to combat the virus effectively.
