Sachin Tendulkar's statue was unveiled at an extravagant event in Mumbai...

Digital Desk: The Indian cricket legend or we also call him God of Cricket, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar's monument was unveiled on November 1, inside his home pitch, Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai.

The statue was supposed to be unveiled earlier this year, on the occasion of Tendulkar's 50th birthday in April. However, there were a few final touches that needed to be added to the construction, so the unveiling was postponed.

Pramod Kamble, a prominent painter-sculptor from Ahmednagar, created the statue as a tribute to Tendulkar's distinguished career and commitment to Indian cricket.

The sculpture depicts Tendulkar in action, performing one of his most famous cricket strikes. It is located near to the Sachin Tendulkar stand within the stadium, which is an appropriate position given Tendulkar's deep association with the venue.

The unveiling of the statue was a grand event attended by dignitaries such as Maharashtra's chief minister Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Ashish Shelar, and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials such as president Amol Kale, secretary Ajinkya Naik, and other members of the apex council.

The stadium was filled with the legendary chanting of "Sachin, Sachin" as the monument was eventually displayed.

The statue stands 22 feet tall and is a sight to behold. Tendulkar's sensational flung shot off Shane Warne at the Wankhede Stadium is depicted through the statue.

The statue's unveiling coincided with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Sri Lanka, a rematch of the dramatic 2011 World Cup final at the Wankhede Stadium. Tendulkar's last World Cup game at the Wankhede Stadium was the 2011 ODI World Cup final versus Sri Lanka, which brought an extra degree of significance to the occasion.

Along with Tendulkar, his wife and Anjali, as well as their daughter Sara, were present for the ceremony to see the monument installed inside Wankhede Stadium.
