In a heartbreaking incident in Nabajyoti Nagar, Panjabari, Guwahati tragedy struck a family as a tree collapse claimed the life of 19-year-old Mintu Talukdar, a B.Com student at Dispur College.

Originating in the Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Remal has unleashed heavy storms and rains across various parts of the country, including Assam. Tragically, a college student lost his life due to a falling tree during a storm in Morigaon. Additionally, several students sustained serious injuries when trees collapsed onto a school bus in Dhekiajuli.

In Rajapukhuri village, under the Palashbari assembly constituency in south Kamrup, a 60-year-old woman named Lavanya Kumari was severely injured by a falling tree. Similarly, a youth was injured when a tree toppled onto a bike on VIP Road in Guwahati.

Furthermore, a 22-year-old man sustained severe injuries during the storm near Pratiksha Hospital in Barbari, Guwahati, and has been hospitalized for treatment.

To address any emergency, a joint task force comprising multiple departments in Guwahati remains active. Additionally, the DDMA department has issued two helpline numbers, 1077 and 9365429314, for assistance and support.
