He made these remarks on Wednesday, September 13, at a meeting with top authorities in the state capital. "His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, will be coming to Sikkim on October 10 (Tuesday) and return on October 14 (Saturday)," he added.

In his role as meeting chair, Tamang emphasised the significance of the Dalai Lama's visit and urged all attendees, including the Ecclesiastical Minister Ven Sonam Lama, Chief Secretary VB Pathak, Additional Chief Secretary S Sudhakar Rao, and chiefs of other ministries.

"We have been making an ongoing effort to invite His Holiness to come to Sikkim and ask for His blessings ever since we established the government in 2019." This year is the year that our efforts are finally paying off. So we should leave no stone unturned in visiting a historic and memorable one", the chief minister said.

The chief secretary will preside as chairman of the organising committee, with Tamang and the ecclesiastical minister serving as primary patrons. According to authorities, more key committees and organisations have been established in anticipation of the Dalai Lama's arrival.

The last time the spiritual head of Tibet visited Sikkim was in 2010.
