  • Supporters of AJP candidate Jibon Chutia are allegedly responsible for the intimidation

Digital Desk: BJP MLA Biswajit Phukan of Sarupathar Constituency has reportedly received death threats as election tensions escalate.

Supporters of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Jibon Chutia are allegedly responsible for the intimidation.

On Tuesday night, an individual identified as Jogeshwar Gogoi reportedly used social media to direct verbal abuse and issue death threats toward the MLA.

Although Phukan has filed an FIR with the Sarupathar Police, the suspect remains at large.

In a related incident of violence, Phukan's supporter Amal Konwar was allegedly assaulted by supporters of Jibon Chutia, leaving him injured.

These developments follow a targeted attack just days ago, in which miscreants hurled a grenade at Phukan's residence.

Despite the gravity of these incidents, police are yet to apprehend the accused.

The public remains watchful as the authorities determine their next course of action amid rising election-related violence.
