Ayodhya: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government accomplished a significant breakthrough as it entered the Guinness World Records for the largest display of oil lanterns, as part of the Deepotsav 2021 on November 3.
During the celebration, 12 lakh diyas were lit in the entire Ram city. At the same time, 9 lakh diyas were lit solely in Ram’s padi.
The state’s Department of Tourism and Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University was listed in the Guinness certification for lighting 12 lakh clay lamps or diyas across the state.
Interestingly, the Ram Ki Paidi and bank of the Saryu river were lit with nine lakh diyas. These diyas signified the number of houses given to the people under the Central government’s PM Awas Yojana Urban.

The other three lakh diyas are intended for the temples and the monasteries in the state.
Earlier on Wednesday, CM Yogi Adityanath announced that the state government had helped 43 lakh citizens with homes under the rural and urban projects.
Cheered with the accomplishment, CM Yogi took to Twitter and shared the record. Yogi tweeted, “This record is a result of Lord Rama’s believers and their belief.”
The Deepotsav started at around 6:30 pm on Wednesday. CM Adityanath, UP governor Anandiben Patel and Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy attended the event.
