According to the villagers, every morning, birds perched on power cables above a paddy field die instantly due to a faulty connection in the electric pole.

Digital Desk: Hundreds of birds have died after being electrocuted by high-wire lines in the Lakhimpur district of Assam.

According to reports, in the Narayanpur area of the district, the power cables running over a paddy field have killed several birds in the last three months.

Moreover, Santipur village, which is part of the Narayanpur Revenue Circle and is close to Bhogpur, has received reports of birds dying recently.

According to the villagers, every morning, birds perched on power cables above a paddy field die instantly due to a faulty connection in the electric pole.

They said that sitting on that specific electrical cable kills birds like doves, kingfishers, mynahs, herons, and sparrows.

Notably, the villagers and nature lovers have been complaining about the power wires at the Bihpuria office of the Electric Subdivision APDCL, but the concerned officials have paid no attention to them.

It may be mentioned that many wild birds, especially rare species that use pylons as perches, are said to be seriously at risk from electrocution on power lines.
