Digital Desk: In a major development for Delhi’s public transport system, a new metro corridor connecting Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block has been approved under Phase 4 of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System (DMRTS). The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which is the construction wing of the Ministry of Railways, made the announcement on Tuesday.
The upcoming metro line will enhance connectivity to a great extent in the South Delhi areas, benefiting the thousands of commuters in the area and helping in reducing the traffic pressure on the congested roads of the city.
The project is aimed at enabling easier, more sustainable, and efficient national capital public the national capital. The total cost is estimated at Rs 447.42 crore (inclusive of GST), and the project is scheduled for completion within 36 months,” RVNL said in a statement.
It is to be noted that this is the first project in the Delhi Metro to be implemented by a public sector undertaking, which is the RVNL under the Ministry of Railways.
The new corridor will include eight strategically located metro stations, enhancing access to key residential and commercial zones:-
Lajpat Nagar – Interchange with Pink and Violet Lines; a major commercial and transit hub.
Andrews Ganj – Serves residential and institutional areas.
GK-1 – Connects Greater Kailash and nearby neighborhoods.
Chirag Delhi – Business district access; interchange with Magenta Line.
Pushpa Bhawan – Connects government offices and residential zones.
Saket Court – Links to Saket District Court, Select Citywalk Mall, and offices.
Pushpa Vihar – Benefits residents of sectors 1, 3, 4, and 7.
Saket G Block – Interchange with the upcoming Golden Line, offering airport access.
