Codenamed Operation Mahadev, which led to the elimination of three terrorists, including Hashim Musa, the mastermind of the brutal Pahalgam attack
Digital Desk: In yet another grand anti-terrorist achievement, the Indian Army, in cooperation with Jammu & Kashmir Police and the CRPF, successfully executed a very high-stakes operation codenamed Operation Mahadev that resulted in the killing of three terrorists, one of whom was the mastermind behind the Pahalgam massacre, Hashim Musa.
The operation was spearheaded by the Chinar Corps in the Lidder Valley region of Jammu and Kashmir, following the interception of suspicious terrorist communications deep within the Dachigam forests. Based on this intelligence and vital information provided by local nomads, forces narrowed the search and intensified surveillance.
On Monday, 12.37 PM, the connection was made with the terrorists. Less than an hour later, the drone video evidence showed the neutralisation of all three, finishing a two-day serious operation in a short time.
The terrorists were found hiding in a makeshift trench under dense forest cover, part of a joint Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module. It is reported that this group has been under surveillance in the last 14 days and in fact it was also responsible in the Pahalgam terror attack of 22nd April, 2025, where 26 innocent civilians were killed in a terror attack in Baisaran Valley.
The precision strikes were done by security forces teams comprising 24 Rashtriya Rifles and 4 PARA using surprise element and other superior tactical advancements to lure and kill the militants.
The operation remains ongoing as search teams comb through the forest to locate remaining members of the group, estimated to number between five to seven.
With Operation Mahadev, the Indian troops not only took revenge on the victims of Pahalgam but also cleared the cross-border terror network in the Valley to a great extent.
