New Delhi: Former President of the Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi, stated that democracy is dead as the opposition is not allowed to raise their voices against various issues in the Parliament.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leads the march against the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs from the winter Parliament session. Parliament members belonging to different opposition parties marched from the Gandhi statue in the Parliament premises to Vijay Chowk to mark their protest against the suspension of MPs.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the rally, stated, "This (suspension of 12 MPs) is a symbol of the crushing of the voice of people of India. Their voices have been crushed. They have done nothing wrong. We are not allowed to discuss important issues in Parliament."

"Bills after Bills are being passed in Parliament. This is not the way to run the Parliament. PM doesn't come to House. Moreover, we are not allowed to raise any issue of national importance. It is the unfortunate killing of democracy."

The leader was also quoted speaking on Lakhimpur Kheri violence, "A minister killed farmers. PM is aware of it. So, the truth is that 2-3 capitalists are against farmers. These MPs were not suspended by RS chairman or PM but by the power that wants to steal farmers' income. PM & the chairman are just implementors."

Daily protests and demonstrations are being staged out by the opposition demanding the revocation regarding the suspension of the 12 MPs.

12 MPs were suspended from the winter Parliament session on November 29 for their allegedly unruly conduct in the House. However, the opposition claimed this action as the 'killing of democracy.'
