Digital Desk: At the age of 92, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar died on February 6, 2022. It is a tragic loss for the country, as the legendary singer captured many hearts not only with her songs but also with her warmth and love for everybody.
Many celebrities attended Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral ceremony; however, veteran actor Dharmendra, on the other hand, did not attend it. The actor disclosed the reason in an interview. The Sholay actor told ETimes that he had prepared himself three times to pay his tributes to the artist; however, he drew himself back every time.
The actor said, “I was awkward and uncomfortable. Yesterday, I got ready three times to attend Didi’s final rites. But I always drew myself back. I didn’t want to see her leaving us. After receiving the news of Lata Mangeshkar’s death yesterday, I felt uncomfortable and anxious.”
Further, speaking about the bonding with Lata Mangeshkar, Dharmendra stated that Lata Mangeshkar would go out of her way to make him feel special and comfortable.
He also added that she’d write him motivating emails and tell him to stay strong. Further, he recounted that after he wrote an emotional and depressing message on Twitter, the late artist called him to see if he was well. But that wasn’t all; the Queen of Melody talked to him for nearly half an hour and made him feel better.
Dharmendra also shared another event where he recalled Lata Mangeshkar’s sharp memory. Dharmendra was shocked when the late singer remembered the colour of his shirt he wore at an awards ceremony years ago.
