WFI president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is currently facing sexual harassment allegations from female wrestlers...

Digital Desk: Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is currently facing sexual harassment allegations from female wrestlers, has made a provocative remark in reaction to those criticizing him over the matter. In a TV interview, Singh said that some are claiming that he had sexually abused 1,000 females "as if I had eaten roti made with Shilajit."

"Previously, they claimed I had sexually abused 100 children. They then began to claim that it had happened to 1,000 children. Did I eat roti made of Shilajit? Singh said.

"If these people go to Jantar Mantar, I will resign," Singh stated, adding that the wrestlers' protests are politically motivated.

On Friday, the Delhi Police registered two FIRs against Singh in connection with sexual harassment charges made by seven female wrestlers against the BJP MP.

The FIRs were filed just hours after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Delhi Police, assured an apex court bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha that a case will be registered on Friday.

While the first FIR was filed in response to allegations made by a minor wrestler and was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the second was filed in response to outraging the modesty of women.

Several wrestlers who have won medals for their country in international competitions have been demonstrating at Jantar Mantar, demanding that the government make public the outcomes of a supervision panel that investigated the sexual harassment charges levelled against Singh.

The wrestlers have stated that they will not leave the protest site till Singh is arrested. Last week, they resumed their sit-in and demanded that the panel that looked into the allegations release its report.
