Guwahati: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell arrested a suspended senior IPS officer, DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika from his Hengrabari residence on Tuesday in a disproportionate assets case.


Under the leadership of SP Rosy Kalita, the CM vigilance cell arrested Hazarika.


In July, Hazarika was suspended by the Assam government for his several foreign trips since 2011 without the permission of the Home Department of the Assam government.

Hazarika was an APS officer who got promoted to the rank of IPS during his service and was serving as a DIG in the Assam police.


Reportedly, Hazarika has been taken to the office of the CM Vigilance cell for further interrogation.


A notification issued by the Home and Political Affairs Department stated that IPS officer Rounak Ali Hazarika had violated government guidelines on several occasions.
