Digital Desk: Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who took the 2016 Rio Olympics by storm by coming fourth in the vault event, has received a rude shock from the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique-the international gymnastics body after the Indian star has been marked as suspended by the gymnastics body on Monday. However, reportedly, the Indian gymnast has no idea about the reason behind this. Karmakar, who is now in Agartala, didn't react to it till now; however, her coach, Bishweshwar Nandi, who is currently at the Gymnastics Federation of India national camp, speaks about the matter. "Dipa is shocked when she learned of her status on the international Gymnastics website. Dipa is currently in Agartala because she is not a member of the national camp. She's surprised and perplexed as the rest of us. We're all trying to figure out why she's been tagged as "suspended" by an international federation when there has been no communication from the GFI. As soon as we learn more about this situation, we will tell everyone,". Dipa was unable to compete in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 due to the cancellation of the qualification Tournaments because of the covid-19 pandemic. Last year at the national camp under Nandi, the gymnast from Agartala was all set to get back to the grind with her compatriots. Up to four gymnasts from Tripura will compete for the first time in the history of gymnastics in India. Since last year, gymnasts have been attending a national camp in Delhi to train for the 2022 Asian Games, 2022 Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Asian Championships, and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
