Digital Desk: A notorious cybercriminal has been apprehended by the Dispur police in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati.

The police seized 464 ATM cards from the criminal's possession, along with a printing machine and several passbooks belonging to Bandhan Bank.

The individual, identified as Ferdous Alam from Lahorighat, was involved in various cybercrime operations while based in Guwahati.

The Dispur police have registered a case number 482/25 in connection with the incident.

Operating from a rented apartment of Sijubari in Hatigaon, Ferdous Alam orchestrated the entire operation, using documents from numerous individuals to open fraudulent bank accounts.

These accounts were then used to supply ATM cards to other cybercriminals.

The network extended beyond Assam, with ATM cards and bank details being distributed to cybercriminals outside the state.

Police investigations suggest that a large network is behind these illicit activities

Further inquiries are underway.
