Digital Desk: Dr. Devajit Choudhury has officially taken charge as the Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

After assuming his role, Dr. Choudhury made significant remarks, promising various improvements in the institution.

Dr. Choudhury outlined his vision, pledging to enhance GMCH's infrastructure, address the conduct of doctors and nurses, and implement key initiatives.

He also emphasized prioritizing recent complaints raised by patients and their relatives. Choudhury also discussed plans to increase helpline numbers and help desks at GMCH.

Dr. Choudhury stated that there will be a WhatsApp number where patients and doctors can report grievances.

Several specialised committees will also be formed for different responsibilities at the government hospital.

In a noteworthy administrative reshuffle within Assam's medical sector, the state government has relieved Dr. Abhijit Sarma from his duties as Superintendent of GMCH.

The reshuffle came after a recent incident of a 4-day-old infant's death at the hospital due to the alleged negligence of medical staff.
