Guwahati: One person, accused of multiple cases of robbery and dacoity, was injured in a police encounter in Azara, Guwahati, on Sunday morning.
The accused identified as Akashdeep Singh received bullet injuries during the encounter. He was recently arrested from Bharalumukh area by a team of police of Azara Police Station led by Officer-in-charge (OC) Tapan Kalita.
Sleuths in Guwahati had to open fire on the accused in self-defence when he tried to flee from their custody.
Akashdeep was brought to assist the cops in an operation against the thieves in the area.
Currently, he is being treated for his injuries in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
