Digital Desk: Happy Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi! The birthday of Hazrat Prophet Sahib was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Shillong on Sunday. During the celebration, a procession was also taken out in the city. People with flags in hand and banners took out processions in various streets of the city and remembered Prophet Hazrat Sahib.

The procession was organized by the Jhalupada Medina Masjid. In the celebration old people, children, young people, men and women all took part enthusiastically. Hafiz Mohammad Firoz, Imam of Jhalupada Madina Masjid, who was involved in the procession-e-Mohammedi on the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, said that the message of Hazrat Mohammad Sahab to rid the human society of social evils, inequality, and hatred has become even more relevant for us today.

The celebration of Eid-e-Milad, often referred to as Milad, commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. It is universally believed that the Prophet was born to Abdullah and Bibi Amina in Mecca in 570 CE on the 12th day of Rabee-ul-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. This year, Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi will last from the evening of October 8 until the morning of October 9 of that same year.

It is to be noted that the Muslim community worldwide finds enormous social and religious significance in this event. Large street parades are held on this day, congregations are set up, and religious leaders deliver sermons on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
