New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced that the farmer agitation will continue as per the schedule and will write an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Speaking to the media, farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said, “The protest will continue against the centre despite Prime minister Narendra Modi confirming the repeal of the farm laws.”

“After discussing about the repeal of the farm laws, some decision was taken. Our programme will continue as it is- on November 22, Kisan panchayat in Lucknow; on November 26, farmers will gather in all the borders and will march to Parliament on November 29.

However, SKM stated that on November 27, a meeting would be held for discussion on further developments, the decision will be taken based on that situation.

Further, Rajewal said that Kisan unions would write an open letter to PM Modi listing their pending demands, including the MSP committee, its right, its time frame, its duties, Electricity Bill 2020 and withdrawal of cases on farmers.

Additionally, the union will write an open letter to the PM to sack the Minister of State Home Ajay Mishra Teni over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

The farmers are also demanding compensation for the farmers who lost their lives during the protest.

Replying to a question about PM Modi’s decision to repeal the farm laws, Rajewal said that it was a good step by the government, but many things still remain unsolved.

Notably, farmer’s organizations have been protesting at various sites on Delhi’s border since November last year, demanding the repeal of the three contentious farm laws. The campsite at the Singhu border in north Delhi has been the headquarters of the SKM, while Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait had camped at the Ghazipur border in east Delhi.
