The farmers have been stopped from entering the capital, Delhi since they first tried to enter in their private vehicles and tractors in February.

Digital Desk: After rigorous repression from the BJP-led NDA government, the farmers are compelled to enter Delhi by public transport. The farmers have decided to enter by March 6, and they have planned a train block protest on March 10.

The farmers have been stopped from entering the capital, Delhi since they first tried to enter in their private vehicles and tractors in February. The borders were heavily sealed on February 13 to stop them, and as the government did not respond to farmers’ demands, the protests were postponed. Now, after many days of halt since February 28, they are planning to enter the capital again.

"We have decided to march to Delhi on March 6. Meanwhile, on March 10, we will block rail tracks (across the country) from 12 pm to 4 pm," Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said.

More than 200 farmers' unions, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, launched the "Delhi Chalo" march on February 13 to pressure the Center to grant many demands. The farm bodies have agreed to stop their agitation against the already-repealed farm regulations in 2021, but now they are demanding a bill providing a minimum support price (MSP).

They also want the waiver of farm debt, pensions for farmers and farm labourers, and the execution of the recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission.
