Digital Desk: Today, in a heart-wrenching incident under Howly in Assam’s Barpeta district, a man allegedly killed his 8-year-old son by poisoning him with a pesticide used in farming. The incident reportedly took place late last night.
According to the child’s mother, she had gone to her parental home seeking financial help, leaving the child in the custody of his father. Upon returning, she found the boy unconscious. He was immediately rushed to Barpeta Medical College by his mother and maternal uncle, where doctors declared him dead.
The grieving mother has lodged an FIR at Howly Police Station, while the accused father and other family members are currently absconding.
A post-mortem examination was conducted earlier today, and the child’s body has been handed over to the family. Police have launched an investigation and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the accused.
