No cat belonging to exhibitors residing in Russia may be entered in any FIFe show held outside of Russia, regardless of whose association these exhibitors

Digital Desk: In reaction to Moscow's military incursion in Ukraine, the Federation Internationale Feline (FIFe), an international cat fancier association, has imposed limitations on cats bred in Russia. In a statement, the Federation Internationale Feline Executive Board stated it is "shocked and horrified" that the army of the "Russian Federation invaded the Republic of Ukraine and started a war." "Many innocent people have been killed, many more have been injured, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been forced to escape their homes in order to save their lives. We can all see the devastation and turmoil brought about by this unparalleled act of assault "In a statement, the FIFe added. "No cat belonging to exhibitors residing in Russia may be entered in any FIFe show held outside of Russia, regardless of whose association these exhibitors are members of," the statement continued. These limits are in effect until May 31 and will be revisited as needed. The Board of FIFe also decided that it will dedicate a part of its budget to support cat breeders and fanciers in Ukraine who are suffering because of the current situation, the statement added. On February 24, Russian forces launched military operations in Ukraine, three days after Moscow recognised Ukraine's breakaway regions - Donetsk and Luhansk - as independent entities. Several nations, notably the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and the European Union, have criticised Russia's military activities in Ukraine and sanctioned Moscow. These nations have also pledged Ukraine military assistance in the battle against Russia. Notably, the United States, Canada, and European allies decided to withdraw key Russian banks from the SWIFT interbank messaging system, which means Russian banks will be unable to interact securely with banks outside of Russia's borders. President Putin has recently signed a decree imposing severe economic sanctions on the United States and its allies.
