Lalitpur: On Friday, the general secretary of Congress and the party in-charge for the state of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the family members of the four farmers who lost their lives as a result of shortage of fertilizers in the Bundelkhand region of the state.

While interacting with Vadra, the family members shared their problems and also narrated the way they are being harassed by the cruelties of the local authorities and the police. They also complained of shortage of fertilizers, even though the local authorities are not claiming so.  

Besides, they also complained of not receiving any compensation or insurance payment for the damage to their crops due to the rain. They also stated how they have taken loans due to the shortage of fertilizers and are struggling to repay them now.

After hearing their grievances, Vadra assured them of every possible help and assistance. She also said that the Congress will stand against any kind of atrocities towards the farmers and their families.

Along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former union minister and Congress leader Pradeep Kumar Jain Aditya was also present at the residence of one of the farmers who committed suicide after he had to stand in a long queue for many days to get fertilizers.  

Earlier, Vadra travelled to Lalitpur from Lucknow through a train on Friday morning.
