Imphal: India's pride and Tokyo Olympics Silver Medalist Mirabai Chanu got to gorge on her favourite food Pizza along with state dignitaries and political leaders in her homeland on Monday.

Chanu was clicked enjoying a quarter of her favourite pizza with Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for I&B and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur as well as Chanu's Coach with a delectable spread of other food items that have now gone viral in social media.

Mirabai Chanu was felicitated by the Union Ministers in a ceremony that was organized to give a warm welcome to the weightlifter and for her successful run in the sporting event that has made everyone in her home state as well as the country proud.

Congratulating the Mirabai Kiran Rijiju tweeted, “Welcome home @mirabai_chanu In Olympics, athletes play for the country's honour. She has made India proud. Attended reception function with @ianuragthakur Ji,@sarbanandsonwalJi,@kishanreddybjpJi,@NisithPramanikJi & officials of Sports Ministry and SAI to honour Mirabai.”

In another tweet sharing pictures with Mirabai Kiran Rijiju wrote, “She was withholding her desire to eat Pizza to maintain her weight in 49kg Weightlifting for the Olympics!Now,@mirabai_chanu has freedom to fully enjoy pizza Slice of pizza till she starts her training for next Championship.”

Many celebrities including from the Bollywood were seen congratulating Chanu in Twitter for winning her medal and also the first for India, opening the medal tally for the country at the Tokyo Olympics.
