A government bulletin states that 3.12 lakh people have been evacuated to more than 560 rescue camps, and 2,675 villages in 79 revenue circles have currently been affected by the flooding.

Digital Desk: According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, severe rain is predicted for Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, which will flood Assam as well. He declared that this time was risky. While the seas have subsided, he added that rain is also predicted for July.

As of June 30, Thursday, 151 people have died as a result of the flooding in the state of Assam; 31.54 lakh people have been affected across 26 districts; and the Beki, Kopili, Barak, and Kushiyara rivers were flowing above the danger level while other rivers' water levels were falling.

In a virtual meeting with the deputy commissioners, CM Sarma made sure that the flood victims would receive aid and rehabilitation. In order to provide the required compensation to the vulnerable, he also ordered a quick evaluation of the flood damage.

The damage assessment must be completed by July 15 and undersigned by the appropriate guardian secretaries and ministries by July 20 in order for the impacted parties to receive compensation. By August 15, the entire process will be finished.

Although Assam has suffered broad devastation from the floods, Cachar, Barpeta, and Nagaon have been the worst-hit districts. 14.30 lakh people live in Cachar, 5.49 lakh in Barpeta, and 5.19 lakh in Nagaon.

Four embankments in Biswanath and one in Lakhimpur were breached, while 177 roads and five bridges were also destroyed. The bulletin claims that 548 homes were completely destroyed by the floods, while 1,034 others suffered minor damage.

In terms of home damage, 1,034 homes have sustained partial damage from flooding, while 548 homes have been completely destroyed. Along with Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, and Tinsukia, large-scale erosion was also reported from those locations.
