Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Jitendra Awhad resigned as National General Secretary...

Digital Desk: MLA Jitendra Awhad of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) resigned as National General Secretary on Wednesday, a day after senior politician Sharad Pawar quit as NCP president. Many more officials have resigned alongside him.

"I have resigned from my post of National General Secretary and have sent my resignation to NCP chief Sharad Pawar," NCP politician Jitendra Awhad told ANI. After Pawar Saheb's statement (to resign as party head), all Thane NCP office bearers resigned as well."


NCP Maharashtra President Jayant Patil, on the other hand, has not resigned from any of his positions.

On Tuesday, Sharad Pawar announced his resignation during the presentation of the second edition of his book Lok Maze Sangati, saying, "I have decided to step down as the president of the NCP."

The 82-year-old Maharashtra politician, Sharad Pawar announced that he will no longer run for office since, after a decades-long career, one must consider retirement.
