Digital Desk: A forest officer, Kuldeep Barman, conducting a survey at Uriamghat in Sarupathar, has been suspended for misconduct.

The suspension followed allegations that the officer used obscene language and attempted to physically assault a journalist and members of the Chutia Students' Association.

The incident occurred on July 20, during a survey at the Uriamghat border, in compliance with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's directive.

Kuldeep Barman, who was serving as the development officer of the Jamuguri block in Golaghat district, reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with media personnel and the Chutia Students' Association

over the video recording of the survey.

The situation escalated when Barman allegedly assaulted a member of the association, triggering widespread condemnation.

Additionally, sources revealed that Barman had previously faced punitive transfer due to his involvement in a secret meeting with a sand trader while serving as the Bokial block forest officer.

The department acted swiftly, suspending him in response to the Uriamghat incident.
