Baksa: Former cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (R) on Wednesday staged a protest demanding the release of its supremo Ranjan Daimary, who is currently serving a life sentence for the 2008 serial blasts in Assam, that killed more than 100 people.

“About 100 of us have gathered here to protest in demand of Ranjan Daimary. We request the center, state, and BTR Chief Pramod Boro for initiating his release,” said a member. The cadres have also been given an ultimatum till August 15 for his release.

“We all know that, since the 2020 peace Accord, our NDFB founder President Ranjan Daimary alias D.R.Nbla has been in jail. If he is not released before August 15 along with other cadres, we will intensify our protest”, he said.

Last week, NFB Leader Abhiram Basumatary condemned the government for transferring Daimary from Guwahati Central Jail on July 22, to a small room in the 10th APBN Camp in Kahilipara, Guwahati.
