Guwahati: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell arrested two more government officials in connection with the 2017-18 Gaon Burha( village headmen) appointment scam.
Among the arrested is Bikram Aditya Bora (Circle Officer, Kokrajhar). The circle officer was arrested five days ago in a case of village head appointment scam.
Though the special judge’s court today remanded him to judicial custody, Chief Ministers' vigilance cell requested the Special Judges court to direct him to CMV custody and the special judge's court granted the permission.

The officer was produced before the special court in Guwahati.
The arrested officer was among the board members of the selection committee, informed SP Kalita.
It is to be mentioned that the CM’s SVC had summoned former South Salmara-Mankachar Deputy Commissioner Atika Sultana for questioning in connection to the case.
Sultana was the chairman of the Gaon Burha's appointment committee.
It is to be noted that the illegal village-head appointment case pertained to the appointment of 94 village heads including 70 head posts-old in Mankachar and 24 posts-old in South Salmara.
