Has the Chief Minister informed the Centre about his repeated visits to Bangladesh?

Digital Desk: In a fiery press conference, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appeared visibly unsettled following his (Gogoi’s) recent media briefing.  He stated that , If any of his statements are proven false,  he'll resign as Chief Minister.

In the past instances, Gogoi recalled that Sarma had asserted he would quit if the BJP candidate Madhav Rajbongshi loses the election. "He also vowed to resign when Akhil Gogoi asked uncomfortable questions or if I lost from Jorhat. None of those vows were fulfilled," Gogoi added.

Gogoi also demanded clarity on the charges leveled against him. "Why wait until September to present evidence against me?" he questioned. He also criticized  at Sarma's earlier comments, including his controversial assertion that Rahul Gandhi employed a body double for the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the claim that legendary figure Lachit Borphukan was a figment of imagination. "These Chief Minister's remarks are not only wasting the time of media people but also the people of Assam," Gogoi continued.

Addressing  the personal attacks, Gogoi claimed that Sarma has always attempted to defame him and his family just because he is the son of late Tarun Gogoi. "His venom against my father goes so deep that even my children haven't been spared from his political assaults."

Gogoi reaffirmed his firm opposition to Pakistan, negating any such implication of association with the country. "I've time and again expressed my stand on Pakistan publicly. I openly attacked Pakistan during a conference in Sri Lanka in front of its representatives, and it was reported by national media," he added. "I've written extensively against Pakistan-sponsored terror in my book India Today & Tomorrow."

Throwing more doubts, Gogoi questioned, "How is it possible for someone to enter Pakistan without the knowledge of the Indian government? Has the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma  informed the Centre regarding his frequent visits to Bangladesh?"

He concluded with a challenge: “Let there be two SITs—one to investigate the family of Tarun Gogoi, and another to examine Himanta Biswa Sarma’s political journey. Let the truth come out.
