Beijing: Chinese Government announced the removal of Giant Pandas from the list of endangered species after a spurt in the wild population of the furry animal, said the Chinese Officials.
The head of the Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation, Cui Shuhong stated that the Giant pandas will now be classified as vulnerable rather than endangered.
During a presser, Shuhong said, “China has established a relatively complete nature reserve system. Large areas of natural ecosystems have been systematically and completely protected and wildlife habitats have been effectively improved.”
Earlier, the giant panda has listed as an endangered species by the China government in 1990. Their number increases from about 1,600 in 2003 to current levels of more than 1,800.
