Digital Desk: The 17-year-old Chess Grandmaster, created history by defeating reigning five-time World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen at the FTX Crypto Cup, the American final of the Champions Chess Tour, in Miami.

It is important to remember that Magnus Carlsen was defeated by Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa for the third time in six months.

When Carlsen made a mistake against the Indian Grandmaster, he was just about to force Armageddon and was on the verge of winning the game. Taking advantage of the situation, Praggnanandhaa defeated him in the tie-breaker.



Magnus Carlsen couldn't believe Praggnanandhaa had defeated him once again. Although Carlsen won the Crypto Cup by securing more points, Praggnanandhaa came second.

In February of this year, he won praise for defeating world No. 1 Carlsen in an online competition. At the age of 10, he became the youngest-ever worldwide master, and at the age of 12, he became the second-youngest grandmaster.

Praggnanandhaa got a strong start in the Crypto Cup competition, winning four straight games and thrashing Levon Aronian 3-1. In the fifth round, China's Quang Liem Le stopped the Indian Grandmaster's victorious steed. He was again defeated by Poland's Jan-Krzystof Duda in a tie-breaker in the sixth round.

Praggnanandhaa was born on August 10, 2005, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is R Vaishali's younger brother, who is also an international master and woman grandmaster.
