Digital Desk: The Go First airline extended its flight cancellations until May 28 due to a continuing financial problem on Thursday (May 25). Previously, the suspension of flying operations had been declared until May 26 for operational reasons. The airline expressed optimism that it will be able to resume bookings soon.
The airline is going through insolvency proceedings. Go First formally announced its suspension of flying operations on May 3.
Previously, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had requested that the airline refund passengers who had purchased tickets for cancelled flights. The airline has also suspended ticket sales until May 15.
According to rumours, the DGCA will evaluate the cash-strapped carrier Go First's readiness to resume operations.
According to Reuters, Go First CEO Kaushik Khona has informed staff that their April salaries will be credited before the company resumes operations.
The airline has reportedly pinned its financial problems on engines manufactured by Raytheon-owned RTX.N Pratt & Whitney.
