Susanta Kumar Nath alleged on social media that the government was selling tickets for the significant Bihu performance on April 14 at Guwahati's Sarusajai Stadium.

Digital Desk: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officials and members protested the custody of spokesperson Susanta Kumar Nath at the crime branch premises in Guwahati on Tuesday.

This comes after AAP Assam leader and spokesperson Susanta Kumar Nath was detained by Panbazar Police today for making anti-state government comments on social media.

According to reports, AAP workers protested Susanta Kumar Nath's incarceration by screaming slogans and sang songs in front of the crime branch office.

The AAP spokesperson had taken to social media to criticize the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led state administration for doing business in the name of Bihu.

Susanta Kumar Nath alleged on social media that the government was selling tickets for the significant Bihu performance on April 14 at Guwahati's Sarusajai Stadium.

He was apprehended by the Panbazar Police in Guwahati and taken in for questioning by the crime branch.

It should be recalled that Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika had stated that the government will take harsh measures against anyone disseminating falsehoods about the situation.

Hazarika had notified that admission to the Sarusajai Stadium for the Bihu event was free of charge.

Preparations for the Assam government's attempt to set a world record with a massive Bihu performance are well underway.

The state administration intends to put the "largest Bihu performance in a single venue" into the Guinness Book of World Records. Practice sessions had already begun across the state.

With the big day approaching, dancers and drummers chosen to be a part of the show flocked to Guwahati today for practise sessions at the Sarusajai Stadium.

On the occasion of Assamese New Year, around 11,000 dancers and drummers will take part in the substantial Bihu dance event on April 14.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony, which will take place in Guwahati. On the same day, the PM would also dedicate many development projects worth Rs 8,000 crores to the people of Assam, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
