On Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Avinash Sarkar’s family to express his concern and oversee the ongoing search efforts.

Digital Desk: In a significant development, rescue teams have recovered the body of a minor in Guwahati’s Rajgarh locality, believed to be that of Avinash Sarkar, who was swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday. The body has been taken to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for identification. While it has not been officially confirmed as Avinash’s, rescue teams initiated an extensive search operation early this morning to locate the missing child.

On Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Avinash Sarkar’s family to express his concern and oversee the ongoing search efforts. CM Sarma reassured the family, stating, “We have been conducting thorough search operations since Friday to locate your child. These efforts will continue until Sunday. However, if your son is not found by tomorrow, it will have been 72 hours since he went missing.
Unfortunately, the chances of finding him alive after this period will diminish significantly.”

The Chief Minister urged Avinash’s parents to prioritize their health and return home to rest, emphasizing the importance of staying strong for their other son. He said, “Continuing to wait like this until your son is found will affect your health. Remember, you have another son who needs you at home. You must control your emotions and remain resilient for the sake of your younger child. Therefore, I advise you to go home today, rest, and return tomorrow morning when the search operations resume.”

CM Sarma also mentioned that he would pray for the safe return of the eight-year-old and planned to visit the family’s home either on Sunday or Monday.
