Digital Desk: The Kamrup metro special POCSO court in Guwahati on Wednesday denied bail to Dr. Sangeeta Dutta. She is charged with grave offenses, including the abuse of her adopted minor children.
Sangeeta Dutta and Waliul Islam, a doctor couple, were accused of verbally and physically abusing their two adopted children who were minors. In May 2023, the incident came to light.
According to recent updates on the case, the court also rejected the bail request of Sangeeta Dutta's spouse, Dr. Waliul Islam, who is also a co-accused in the same case.
The couple was not the only ones brought up by the investigating police; the judge denied the bail request of their housekeeper, Lakhi Rai.
This occurs following several days of nonstop court proceedings about the case, as per sources.
The Guwahati Police detained the medical couple on May 7, 2023, following the terrible case that made headlines. In this instance, public prosecutor advocate Deepa Bezbaruah made an appearance.
