Digital Desk: Jailed pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh will be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Khadoor Sahib seat in Punjab, according to The Indian Express, which cited his lawyer.

According to the report, Singh's lawyer, Rajdev Singh Khalsa, said that the Waris Punjab De head will contest as an independent.

According to quotes, Khalsa stated, "Today I am in Dibrugarh. Amritpal Singh and I met. I have his word that he will contest from Khadoor Sahib."

It is to be noted that the pro-Khalistani leader surrendered to the police in April 2023 and was taken into custody under the National Security Act in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam.

According to sources quoted in the story, a mainstream party is allegedly preparing to support his candidacy outside.

A mainstream party is thinking about endorsing Amritpal Singh's candidacy externally, sources said.
