The incident came to light after child right activist Miguel Das Queah took to his Facebook profile to inform about the incident.

Digital Desk: Guwahati police on Friday detained doctor couple Dr. Waliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Datta for their involvement in an alleged child abuse case. According to sources, the couple tied their little daughter (who supposedly adopted) on their terrace in the blaring summer heat.

The incident came to light after child right activist Miguel Das Queah took to his Facebook profile to inform about the incident.

"Finally, Guwahati Police have taken notice of the dangerous doctor couple Dr. Waliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Datta's cruelty." I'd been getting reports for a long time about this horrible medical couple who used to tie their small kid (who they claimed to have adopted) to their terrace in the sweltering summer heat. "This little 5 year old girl child has bruise marks all over their body," Miguel Das Queah wrote in the post.

Miguel had previously suggested that the witnesses file a complaint, but no one had the nerve until Friday. Meanwhile, Miguel had provided an update to the Child Welfare Committee on the situation.

He also requested the Assam Police to examine the injuries, speak with the teachers, speak with the neighbours, and, most importantly, examine the adoption papers.

"The child should be removed from the abusive environment as soon as possible." "It appears that this Dr. Waliul has another illegally adopted girl child from a previous marriage, whom he has abandoned," Miguel went on to say.

The terrible assault was reported to Paltan Bazaar Police by local locals. On Friday, a police team arrived at the couple's house and retrieved the youngster. Meanwhile, Dr. Waliul Islam is being questioned by the police. Lakshmi Nath, a caretaker, is also being questioned in connection with the case.
