The eviction drive was carried out against street vendors in Bhetapara, according to sources.

The eviction effort was carried out in order to meet their goal of cleaning the pathways and streets from street vendors by the end of February this year.

The GMC conducted an eviction effort against illegally built stores in the Ulubari area at the end of 2022.

The eviction took place beneath the Ulubari flyover, near the Prag Tower building.

Officials at the location stated that the multiple mobile eateries put up beneath the flyover were prohibited. Several roadside stalls were evicted during the drive.

The GMC is conducting daily eviction campaigns to remove illegally set up stalls and make the locations occupied by them open to the public, according to officials.

Meanwhile, sources claim that the GMC has been accused of illegal tax collection and harassment of businesses.
