Digital Desk: In an unfortunate incident, a man sustained bullet injuries at Rani in the outskirts of Guwahati on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, the incident occurred in front of Carmel School, near Rani Police Station, while he was on his way to pick up his child from school.

The man has been identified as Milan Das, a resident of the Tarapati area. He sustained bullet injuries on his right hand. Das has transported to Rani Community Health Centre right away.

A civilian was seriously injured a few days ago in Baksa after forest personnel opened fire on him after suspecting him of being a poacher.

Nirmal Basumatary, the victim, was gravely injured and was sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized care.

According to sources, Nirmal was collecting wood in the forest when the horrific tragedy occurred.

Meanwhile, after being told of the occurrence, police rushed to the scene and began an investigation.

Despite being taken at the Baksa city hospital, Nirmal was transferred to the GMCH due to his poor health.

On the other hand, the police arrested another man named Rakesh Islari. Islari had accompanied Nirmal to the forest.
