Reportedly, the fire completely destroyed the houses of at least 150 families.
The massive fire is thought to have erupted after more than 15 cylinders burst in a slum area behind Fatasil's Kamakhya Ram Borooah College.
After the fire broke out, all major roads were blocked.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade has arrived on the scene and is working to extinguish the massive fire.
So far, no fatalities or injuries have been reported in the incident.
