Digital Desk: In a shocking incident, a miscreant allegedly transported a dead body from Guwahati in a cab and afterward dumped it on the city's outskirts in the Kamalpur area.

This was confirmed by the cab driver, who was threatened with horrific consequences if he reported the incident to the police.

He claimed that the culprit had booked the cab over the phone from the Rukminigaon area and loaded a suspicious-looking bag into the trunk of the cab.

The miscreant, identified as Hitesh Das, then directed the cab driver to drive toward Kamalpur, where he discarded the bag deep inside the jungle.

When asked about the contents of the bag, the accused stated that he had killed a man and the body was in the bag. He also threatened the driver not to reveal the information to the police.

With no other option, the driver obeyed the miscreants and afterward dropped him in the city. He, however, arrive at the Dispur police station shortly after and told them the entire thing.

Following this, the police tracked down the accused and arrested him.

Reportedly, Hitesh Das hails from Nilpur in Nalbari and is an autorickshaw driver by profession.

An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
