Digital Desk: The variety of fishes found in the Brahmaputra river in the Gujjan area of Tinsukia district in Upper Assam are distinct in taste and nutrition, with very high consumer preferences. The baralia fish type from the Gujjan area is in high demand and popular in the state. In this regard, FISHFED has taken initiatives to make Gujjan fish varieties available to fish lovers throughout the state and in Guwahati in particular.

The Rangagara Matsyajibi Samabai Samiti, an empaneled cooperative society, manufactured ready-to-cook frozen fish packets of rohu, catla, ari, prawn, puthi, baralia, and other species without using any chemicals and following strict hygienic process. FISHFED has made ready-to-cook foods, which are already accessible in upper Assam markets, available in the city. The packaged fish items are now available at FISHFED's Rupnagar and other city locations. Customers can also have the products delivered to their homes by using www.fishfedassam.org and the FishfedMart mobile app. This was indicated in a news statement published yesterday.
