 Digital Desk:  On Sunday, reports of explosions throughout several parts of  Guwahati city areas scared residents when Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya  was hoisting the Tricolour flag at Veterinary Field, Khanapara. Local residents reported explosions in Rehabari and Lalmati before police discovered a suspicious bag outside Dream City Hotel in Katabari.  Police authorities have promptly responded  by dispatching multiple teams to undertake investigations of those incidents.

For the public's reassurance Guwahati Commissioner of Police Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta confirmed that  authoritiess inspected all reported sites without finding any explosives. Furthermore, He declared that the investigation remains ongoing.

Police swiftly established a barrier around Katabari and carried out an in-depth investigation at the scene.  After checking the bag, they confirmed that it contained no  dangerous elements. The bag holding personal items along with ID cards left by an individual at the ISBT complex probably belonged to a nearby person attending to their needs according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Padmanabh Baruah. The investigation has now cleared the bag for release to its owner when the investigation finishes.

Resident in Beharbari claimed to hear an explosion near the Adidas showroom at around 8 am. Authorities have not verified whether an explosion occurred but they have deployed teams to inspect the site.

ULFA-I announced on January 26 that they  claimed the explosions. The banned group affirmed the IED blasts functioned as a protest against India's  76th Republic Day observances while unequivocally stating that their foundation did not intend harm to local people yet used takings to deliver a message to national agencies. According to this group the blasts were designed to prevent people from joining national celebrations in Assam.
