Digital Desk: Gyanendra Pratap Singh is now serving as Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam released him from his duties. India’s Ministry of Home Affairs accepts Gyanendra Pratap Singh to lead the CRPF as its Director General while he remains at Level-16 under deputation from the department. The CRPF has been assigned his services until his retirement on November 30, 2027 or by order extension.

During this transitional period Harmeet Singh will serve as Assam's DGP through the duties he has undertaken as Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards. Harmeet Singh will maintain his current director responsibilities in addition to handling police operations until the process to find a permanent DGP replacement completes or until a new directive is received.

The government made this decision after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which sanctioned Gyanendra Pratap Singh's appointment to CRPF on 18th January , 2025.
