The new case is being investigated in light of a recent wave of missing cases involving young girls...

Digital Desk:  As many as three Guwahati schoolgirls reported missing since February 17 were found and subsequently rescued by the police, reports emerged on Tuesday.

The three girls were found during a joint search operation by Pragjyotishpur Police and Panikhaiti Police in Guwahati on Monday, following public awareness of the case.

The young girls were reportedly found in Kamalajari Gaon village, which is outside of Guwahati city in the Sonapur subdivision of the Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam.

After the girls were rescued, they were questioned about their ordeal to determine how they went missing after being rescued.

Riya Timung from Birkuchi, Rashmi Sonar from Bonda, and Rashmi Sarma from Amingaon neighborhood were recognized as students of Raghunath Choudhary Hindi High School in Guwahati's Birkuchi locality.

The new case is being investigated in light of a recent wave of missing cases involving young girls, which is concerning.

The students had left their respective homes on February 17, according to allegations that surfaced on Monday. They all mentioned going to see a friend. However, when they failed to return home, concerns were raised.

Families of the girls filed a missing complaint at Pragjyotishpur Police Station after first thinking that they had spent the night at their friend's house. The girls did not return, not even on Sunday.

It was discovered that one of the three students, who was carrying a cell phone, was found switched off, leading to the parents getting worried and filing a complaint.

Meanwhile, the detention of two youths named Nayan Jyoti Das and Subal Ronghang has given the case a new angle. A full-blown police investigation will only reveal the exact details.
