Digital Desk: In a troubling incident that occurred in broad daylight on Sunday, a youngster was detained in Guwahati for reportedly attempting to molest a woman.
The young male has been named Justin Kathar, while the woman is said to be a journalist.
The assault occurred in Guwahati's downtown centre while the victim was on her way to work.
According to media sources, the teenager had been following the woman and then harassing her when they got close to her job place.
Undaunted, the woman quickly sought help from nearby residents, and together they chased the attacker away. She also immediately reported the incident to the police.
Dispur Police responded to the distress call and performed a quick operation that resulted in the arrest of Justin Kathar. According to Dispur Police officials, the youngster is in police custody.
The authorities have filed charges against him under relevant parts of the Indian Penal Code, especially Section 354D (stalking). 354B (attack or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe) and 322 (causing grave harm voluntarily).
