Digital Desk: Singer Kamalika Kashyap lost her father Bhupen Das on Friday. She lost her mother, the melody queen of Assam Bhitali Das almost 3.5 years before. 


Kamalika's father Bhupen Das passed away on Friday at his residence in Garigaon, Guwahati. He had been suffering from diabetes and kidney-related ailments for a prolonged period.


Late Bhupen Das was a Tabla player. He was admitted to the Saikia Nursing Home of Jalukbari on Friday morning for shortness of breath. At 12.45 PM, he breathed his last.


Their only daughter Kamalika Kashyap became an orphan as she lost both parents. Her mother, Bhitali was loved by many for her melodious voice. She was tested COVID-19 positive and admitted to the Kalapahar Covid hospital, where she breathed her last. She died at the age of 41.


She sang around 5000 Bihu songs with different Assamese singers. Some of her popular musical albums include Bogitora, Jaanmoni, Junbai, Rangdhali, Rupali, Jaan Bihu, Dipali, and Moromjaan among others.


Her demise was a huge loss for Assamese music. Several artists mourned the sudden and heartbreaking news of Bhitali Das's demise.
