Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the Northeast over the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD forecasts rain in the Northeast for the next five days, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

According to IMD, at lower tropospheric levels, this could be caused by the influence of strong south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the northeast.

Rainfall intensity is expected to increase over the Northeast beginning April 29th, according to IMD

Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to see widespread rainfall, as well as thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (speeds reaching 40-50 kmph).

IMD predicts scattered/fairly widespread rainfall in Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim over the next five days.

On April 30, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, and from April 30 to May 2, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam-Meghalaya.
