Digital Desk: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Guwahati and other parts of Assam on June 16, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). The inclement weather predicted to persist until June 20, includes extremely heavy rain for Assam and Meghalaya on June 16 and 17.

The forecast indicates that Guwahati will experience a generally cloudy sky with intermittent rain due to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and its vicinity at 1.5 km above mean sea level. The state will endure generally cloudy skies with recurring showers and potential thunderstorms.

Guwahati recorded a temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius on June 15. The meteorological department has highlighted a cyclonic circulation affecting northeast Assam and neighboring areas, along with another over Sikkim, where continuous rain has triggered landslides.

The RMC has issued warnings for thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Specifically, parts of Assam and Nagaland are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain. 

Moreover, isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive heavy rainfall on June 16. The public is advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions amidst the adverse weather conditions.
